Objectives: The student will be introduced to various techniques of refrigerating freight cars including (1) ice cooled, (2) salt and ice cooled, and (3) mechanical equipment along with a discussion about passenger cars. The course also introduces the student to concepts in defrosting, basics on refrigerants, the refrigeration cycle, lines, valves, and purging.
Audience: Mechanics, carmen, apprentices, maintenance personnel responsible for the care and maintenance of refrigeration cars.
